Project Statement
For my capstone project, I was given the freedom to define my own direction—and I chose to channel my passion for fiber arts into reimagining a bag tailored for the modern-day knitter. The result is a bold, functional, and fashion-forward accessory that challenges outdated stereotypes of who a fiber artist can be. This bag features a hand-knit and wet-felted strap for comfort, a zipperless and Velcro-free closure system for seamless access, and integrated tools such as custom-designed knitting needles and bobbins for winding yarn directly on the bag. Built from 100% genuine leather, every piece was meticulously cut, hand-stitched, and crafted from the ground up. Custom white brass star handles not only tie into the “nova” theme but also serve a functional purpose—facilitating the yarn-winding mechanism. Designed for students, travelers, professionals, and creatives alike, this bag reflects the versatility and modernity of today’s fiber artists. It’s not just an accessory—it’s a statement of empowerment, utility, and style.
